Staying with friends who were taking me around to a few of their preferred places, and EZ's is big on the list for sharing.

To introduce me to the place (which had a nicely varied menu, right off the bat), they ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, a burger, and a pepperoni pizza.

I'm not a pizza fan anyway.  It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special, and it was greasy.

The chicken sandwich for me though was a whole different story.  I never eat pickles on sandwiches, even tho I like pickles, but this was so flavorful as was, with big pieces of chicken, that my mind has been changed.  Likewise with the burger.  Not a gourmet burger, stacked high with onion rings or donuts of anything fancy, just a burger, and a good one.

Speaking of onion rings, we got a side of those, and they were also very good.  The breading was light enough, not too dense, and stayed on the onion.  I can't rate service, since you place the order and then go up as your name is called, but for the price it is solid, good food.

This place is shockingly good for what it is. The people in charge obviously care about the food they are serving. That deserves my high recommendation.

My wife and I passed three of the locations of this small chain by for years because it simply did not look inviting, modern or quality from the outside. We cheated ourselves. When we finally stopped a couple of weeks ago because it was close and we were really hungry, we first ordered a cheeseburger, onion rings & malt for her. All were first rate. I took a flyer on their bowl of chili. I'm something of a chili fanatic and very hard to please. It was the real stuff! Incredible...hardly any restaurant chef cares enough to satisfy a real chilihead, but they do. This was at the N. New Braunsfels Rd. Location.

Later, we tried this Bitters location because it is closer to us, and everything is pretty much the same. This time my wife ordered their grilled rainbow trout, which came with some grilled veggies and rice. It was as good as you could want and the Caesar Salad we ordered was excellent as well. Who could expect a fine fish dinner at what looks to all the world a hamburger joint? I could not resist and had a chili, cheese, onion & mustard burger. Terrific and something you cannot get at What-A-Burger, sports fans!

This place has a really large menu for a grill, and we will be back often to eat our way through it...if I can get away from the chili.

I haven't been here in years! I ordered their famous bean burger and their super yummy sweet potatoes fries that cone with a chipotle mayo sauce for dipping.
The burger was delicious, as expected. Their patty is nice and thick and flame broiled. It's large enough for my hubby and I to share. I love their sweet potatoes fries. They are cut thin and they are perfect with the chipotle sauce.

The service was okay I didn't wait too long for my food.
They offered me a cup for water while I waited. My one disappointment with this place ( for years) is that they serve Pepsi products.

I will be back to have my other favorite item, chicken pest pizza.

If I could give them less than one star I would.
The place is filthy. There is a layer of scum thoughout the restaurant.
    Tables were not clean
    Floor was sticky
There were unusual number of flies
Ornamental hanging pieces had layer if what I assume to be greasy dust on them and hanging from them. A/C vents same.
Furniture was beaten up and looked terrible.
Makes me worry what kitchen is like.

EZ's used the be great in its day. But it's impossible to eat in a place comfortably when you are revolted by lack of cleanliness.

I remembered being a kid and trying this place with my family and loved it, so when my girlfriend and I came back in to try the food and were met with an employee fast asleep in a booth right next to the register, we were horrified! Our pizza was okay, but there's places that are way better, cleaner, and don't look like a homeless shelter. We will be avoiding EZ's in the future, it's obvious now why other locations have been disappearing
